Now that I have all of the
parts that I need it is time to start cutting. The tools
that I used to build the trebuchet consisted of a 12"
sliding compound miter saw and a circa 1950's drill press
(solid iron and weighs over 150 pounds but you just can't
break it!) Add a small cordless drill and some glue and
screws and we'll be on our way. |

The first thing is to cut notches into the cross member
and the two long base pieces so that they fit snuggly into
one another. |
All finished and looking good so far.
Let's see how well they fit together... |

Wow, that went well and this is the first time I get a feel
for the sheer size of the future trebuchet. Geez, what have
I gotten myself into???? Notice that I am blocking the driveways
of two of my neighbors. Luckily, their garages are used for
storage and not vehicles so they never park there (lucky for
me). |
