One of the coolest things that Stider can do if there is enough traction is pop two wheels in the air and 'wave'. Here he is posed on the table with his lights on
Here is Strider traversing the Mars Rover course with ease. His six wheel drive is showing its worth.
Well, there seemed to be enough traction on this playing field as Strider twists and contorts into positions that nobody thought a bot would be capable of. Even driving off of the platform landing on his nose with the back wheel in the air and driving like that until I full throttle him forward at which he sits all six wheel down.
If he is driven backwards and then slammed into full forward the front wheels wheelie up for several feet.
This is a video of Strider turning on the camera lights, looking around and then traversing some 2x4s and other miscellaneous stuff thrown on the ground.
Here is a video from down low. You can really see the chassis articulation as he climbs over everything in his way.
We wanted to test to see how well he could climb over a 2x4 turned on its side. Wheels don't have much trouble getting over objects that are less than half the height of the wheel because it doesn't have to climb straight up before going over. Strider on the otherhand is faced with a piece that is taller than half the height of the wheel. Watch the video to see how he handles it.
