As you have no doubt guessed, the site is taking on some changes lately. The intro page to the site linked to both my robotics portion as well as my educational portion when I used to teach at the University of Central Florida. Since then, the web content on the UCF servers has been removed so the links no longer work. Instead, I am rebuilding the site to cover many of the different aspects of my life. The robotics portion will remain here in its entireity but will no be a subset of the main site (albeit the most content).

Please look around the other portions of the site as they come online. I have a lot of cool stuff to share as I get the time to build the site accordingly.

You may have noticed that the video in the post below has been removed from Vimeo. It seems that Warner Music felt that I was infringing on their IP when I made the video as an artistic expression in response to a song that I had heard. I made ZERO money from it. As a matter of fact, it cost be several hundred dollars to make it due to the cost of software that I had to buy, including the the purchase of the song.

It just torques me when people with no talent, who leech off of the skills of musicians, try to suppress creative and artistic expression of others because they can't make a profit from it, even when the artist is making nothing from it themselves.

I was honored when it was chosen as one of the best Machinima films at Otronicon '09. And since it was removed from YouTube and Vimeo I decided to put the original here for others to download, enjoy, and use. If you do use any of this just give me credit and let me know where I can see your work so that I can enjoy it.

Yes I know it has been a while since I updated this site. I do miss compteting in Battlebots and RFL but times change and we adapt to what we have. You can see more about some of the things that I have been up to recently at my vita page.

As for other projects, I have been a big fan of Machinima for many years and recently I came across one that blew my socks off by Baron Soosdon called "I'm so sick". I knew that I had to try my hand at it so I made one using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9, Fraps, Fireworks, F.E.A.R., World of Warcraft, and WoW Model Viewer.

Well, another Otronicon has come and gone and it was a smashing success yet again. One of the biggest draws at the event was the Rock Band stage that I built which included a full-sized professional drum kit that was modified for use as a Rock Band controller. You can see the full build report for the drum kit on the Otronicon website.

I was also fortunate enough to particiapte in the Video Games Live concert in Orlando as Master Chief from the Halo series. This picture was taken backstage while the orchestra was playing music from World of Warcraft.

I am also planning another Robotics class here at the Orlando Science Center this Spring to coincide with our Robts exhibit so be sure to check the Science Center website if you are interested in attending.

February 1

Today I gave a lecture on the past, present, and future of robotics at Valencia. I was a bit nervous at this lecture because many of my professors and a lot of my classmates were in attendance. For anyone interested in a copy of the presentation you can get it here

I gave a lecture on creating a Dynamic Learning Environment Through Applied Robotics to many teachers and educators at this year's Florida Educational Technology Conference. It was a great event and there were a lot of cool programs offered. For those teachers interested in a copy of my presentation you can get it here

What a great day today. Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage of the hit television show Mythbusters were guest speakers for Campus Activity Board at the University of Central Florida. Then Alexia and I had an opportunity to have dinner with them and some of the members of CAB. I came to know them from their Battlebot Blendo (shown right). Blendo is the first spinner bot ever built and is the precursor of all horizontal spinners.

They are absolutely wonderful, down to earth guys. They are prototypical of so many builders in the Battlebots community. Smart enough to be dangerous, yet willing to bend over backward to help others. If you haven't seen Mythbuster on the Discovery Channel then you are definitely missing out of one of the best shows on television.
