Well, I have been in Florida
for about 9 years now and I can now finally say that I have been
through a hurricane. Actually, the eye of the hurricane came right
over my place with wind gusts of about 100 mph. The storm has
been over for about an hour now (it's 11:00 PM on August 13, 2004)
and here are some pictures form the damage around my place.
The winds are still in the 50+ mph range right here with
a boat load of rain being dumped

This is one of the pine trees right outside my apartment
that was snapped in half.

The small tree ended up like so many around here tonight;
uprooted.

I snapped this picture as we drove through a darkend
intersection. This signal used to hang above the traffic.

You can see this traffic light, like countless others
around here, down on the ground and blown off the street.
