"Dr. Boom"

This page is a formerly unlinked page to the rest of my web sitewww.TeamDavinci.com so that I may put information pertinent to vendors, schools, client, and the like.   My current resume can be found here. I have worked as an engineer at NASA Kennedy Space Center, I have taught robotics at the University of Central Florida, and have hosted a television show Robot Rivals on the Do It Yourself Network. A quick bio and NASA pictures can be found here.

I am currently the Exhibits Developer for the Orlando Science Center. My job includes designing and developing new science exhibits that will attract guests to the Science Center and convey the science concepts of that particular exhibit. I am also the Creative Director for Otronicon which is a yearly exhibit on the science and technology of video games. For this past Otronicon I created a Rock Band drum interface out of a real drum kit. The web page that I made during the development of the kit was so popular that we received over one million web hits on the first day and shut down our web server (along with over 300 other businesses who were using it as well). It was also covered by hundreds of gaming sites and web zines. (Google results)

One of my more popular exhibits pieces is one that involves the science of simulators. For this simulator I modified an existing program to create a fun driving simulator. I made a promo video to sell the idea and you can see it here.

Along with exhibits and special events I also create live science shows. The most recent and successful of these is the Big Bang Show which is a live show about the "Science of explosions and things that go bang!"

I created the character Dr. Boom as a mad scientist who explains the science and destructive force behind an explosion and I show the differences between a "Hollywood" explosion and a real one through actual demonstrations.

I have been the poster image for the show for the last two years.

Other pictures from the Big Bang Show

I have also developed a close relationship with a local radio station to create a weekly Science segment. The hosts of the Monsters in the Morning contracted me to build an "Inspector Gadget" style podium for them to use during their live performances. This is the audio from the Monsters in the Morning where we demonstrate some of the explosions for the Big Bang Show. Dr. Boom on the Monsters. This has become a weekly radio segment where I will bring in some experiments and demonstrate them live on the air and answer science questions from the hosts and callers. You can listen to the segments in the navigational fram to the right under the Audio section.

If you haven't seen my main web site then I can tell you that I have been very active in the sport of robotic competition through Battlebot, BattlebotsIQ, US FIRST, Robot fighting League, and others. One magazine article put my robot and team in a prominent position as the front page.

My work with Battlebots and at NASA led to my position as Co-host and Technical Expert on Robot Rivals. Robot Rivals is a show that pits two teams of college students against each other to build a robot out of household items to perform a specific task in a very short amount of time. We filmed for two seasons and Scripps decided not to persue a third season due the the cost of the robotic equipment.

I have always had a flair for the eccentric and I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge as well as helping others to understand how the world around them works.
