Can I use my existing robot name?
BattleBot licensed bots are welcome to compete, but they will be edited out of any TV coverage or video. Battle Beach STRONGLY suggests that you change the name and appearance of any BattleBot licensed bot so you don't miss out. BB licensed bots will be required to affix a sticker (supplied by Battle Beach) to their bot so that they can be identified and edited out in post production.

Where will it be held?
Battle Beach will be held at The Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center in Ormond Beach. Be sure to make your hotel reservations early as everything fills up fast for Bike Week every single year.

When will it be held?
Battle Beach will be held from March 4th through the 9th of 2003. Check in and safety will be on the 4th and 5th.

What the heck is Bike Week?
Bike Week is a week long celebration of motorcycles and the biker lifestyle. Bike Week attracts about half a million bikers each year (and it keeps growing). It is the second largest gathering of bikers with Sturgis being the largest. For more information just visit the official Bike Week website at www.bikeweek.com.

Who is organizing Battle Beach?
Battle Beach is a collaborative effort between TeamLOGICOM and the City of Ormond Beach, Florida.

Where can I stay?
Because of BikeWeek places tend to fill up rather quickly. We are working with local hotels and campsites to try to get the best rates possible for competitors.

There are 100 rooms available at the Ramada Inn, I wasn’t able to work a deal for special pricing, or to reserve a block, but I DO know they are available… Do NOT wait… these are the ONLY rooms left in town for a half-way decent price.

(386) 615-1280 for $135.95 a night (price is still high, I know).

They have a pool, a restaurant, and a bar PLUS they are LESS than 5 minutes from the venue and biker central… trust me you won’t get a better deal anywhere else.

Talk to Arlene, she works 7-3 E.S.T and mention Battle Beach… she will try to put everyone close.

I have some other rooms available at the Ramada Inn St. Augustine for $139, but that is a 40 minute drive from the venue.

Will there be compressed gas filling stations?
There will be a CO2 filling station. We are working on HPA and Nitrogen but we can't promise that we will have them availble.

When does Registration close?
Registration closes on February 21st.

What's the deal with Beetleweights?
Beetle registrations are so light that this class may be closed... If held this event will take place in the 16X16 test box by the pits.

Is there a preliminary fight schedule?
There is no way to schedule fights until registration is over, of course we don't know how many bots will be registered or which ones. The scheduling software that we are running is the same software that BattleBots used... it does give a tentative match time well in advance... We have been competitors at enough events to know what a hassle not having a CLUE of your match time is... Please realize that matches rarely go as planned so you will be responsible for being ready well in advance of your scheduled time... but at least you will have a clue ;-)

Can I withdraw after registering?
The registration fees are non-refundable... sorry. Once the tables, chairs, tent size, etc. is locked in we are responsible for those payments whether you show or not.

Is there bot ranking?
1st event... no one is ranked. The RFL is currently working on a ranking system that works for all the various events.

Can I use a toy radio for my Ant/Beetle?
Check with Steve Judd (sgjudd@gte.net), therules coordinator, to be sure... but we don't expect a problem in that weight class.

What is the availability of concessions?
We plan on providing food for staff and competitors, but haven't made that public OR a promise... So don't hold us to that. We may have vendors available, but since this is City property we may not get that cleared. Food is VERY close and easy to get to if all else fails.

How much will spectator prices be?
Will there be a price break for families of competitors?
How about evening only prices?

We don't plan on restricting attendance by the competitor's family as long as people are reasonable. There will NOT be much seating, or viewing available IN the theather, but we will have a HUGE competitor's lounge with couches, chairs, bathrooms, showers, changing rooms and video feeds... hopefully food and drink too. We will have monitors in the pits also. To answer your question though... if you HAVE to buy a ticket, the prices will be $20 per session. We haven't decided the cost of an event pass... probably $75-$100.

What are the hours each day?
The small robots will run the earlier sessions starting at 9am... the sessions will be 9a-12, 1-4, 5-8, 9p-12a. Bike Week crowds rock until the wee hours, but won't be around much in the mornings. We will be inviting local schools and such for the early sessions and we will run the ants, beetles, 12s and 30s early (first two sessions each day) so the kids that are involved with them can get out of there before things heat up in the evenings. The 9p-12a session will probably be fairly adult in nature, but we expect all the kids to be out of there by then.

Pit crew limits?
Again, we hope to NOT have to limit people as long as they are reasonble... we DO reserve the right to limit crew members if a team is taking advantage, or not being courteous to their neighbors. You will HAVE to register everyone, of course, and if you don't get crazy with your numbers and they are registered they will be issued passes. Be fair... don't expect to get 10 people in on an ant or a POP registration. We reserve the right to limit people in the pits if they get crowded. If they are NOT registered they will have to purchase tickets. If your robot does NOT run your passes may be revoked. Please understand that people have registered fake bots at some events just to get a bunch of passes... I want to accommodate all the builders and let their whole families enjoy... but REAL builders, REAL members of our builder family... not posers looking to scam the event.

Bottom Line... we DON'T intend to, nor do we want to make any money off the competitors either with registrations or tickets... There will be plenty of non-robot-family paying customers to subsidize our fun here. We want to make this event as enjoyable and easy for the competitors as possible because we KNOW you guys are taking a hit with hotel bills and such. I don't know how many events you have been to, but this one will be run tight and with respect and thanks to the builders and their efforts...
