Well, I finally got the video editing software up and running on my new machine so that I could put the video of my air cannon here. It was built to test an idea for an episode of Robot Rivals.

The entire cannon was built from parts that I found at my local hardware store for about $55. It has 11' of 3" SCH 40 PVC rated to 330 PSI for the accumulator. It goes through a 3/4" ball valve that is sprung open with a bungee cord and then into a 1 1/2" 160 PSI PVC barrel which just happens to fit a golf ball perfectly. The reason for using a mechanical ball valve versus a solenoid valve is price and flow rate. To see video of it in action click here or head over to the Videos page.
